The days when electric cars were just for short trips are over:
Range anxiety is now a thing of the past: In accordance with the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) the new Ampera-e can clear the 500 km* barrier without recharging. This makes Opel’s innovative electric model by far the best in its segment. The Ampera-e's performance is made possible by its battery's special features:
*Measured based on the standardized New European Driving Cycle (NEDC). Ranges in your day-to-day use will vary.
The days when electric cars were just for short trips are over:
The centerpiece is made up of an impressive 60-kWh-lithium-ion-battery. This enables a range of up to 520 km*. And thanks to its ultra-slim design, there is still space for five.
The long range of the Ampera-e is driven by its advanced battery concept. This is how it works: The chemical structure of the lithium-ion-battery enhances heat resistance so less energy is lost in cooling it. The active heat management system keeps the battery temperature operating most efficiently, even when temperatures outside are high. 288 cells make up the battery pack which has a capacity of 60 kWh – comparable to 60,000 household batteries. In half an hour, you can charge a range up to 150 km1 at a 50 kW direct current charging station.

The range of the Ampera-e has been measured using the standardized test method for Europe, based on the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC).
In addition to the NEDC range, we estimated a combined WLTP range larger than 380 km, based on development tests approximated to the speed profile defined in the WLTP driving cycle (shortened test procedure).
The WLTP driving cycle is based on real driving profiles and is therefore closer to real life than the legally binding New European Driving Cycle (NEDC). However, the range in your everyday use will vary. In practice, factors such as road characteristics, weather conditions, driving style or additional load influence the range.

Many factors can affect range: How fast do you drive? With or without heating or air conditioning? See how your driving conditions may affect your range in our range simulator.
The Ampera-e is equipped with a regenerative braking system1, that transforms energy from braking into electricity which is then fed back into the battery.
Simply let go of the gas pedal or push the brake and the battery will recharge.
While driving, you can choose between four modes of regenerative braking:

At home or on the go: Opel’s versatile charging strategy that features short charging time, helps you to stay flexible - for your daily distances or even for longer trips.
On average, people drive only 60 kilometers per day. This range can be charged over night - via a standard household socket (2.3 kW1)!
Faster charging can be made even using an optional alternating current home charging station - also known as an AC wall-box (4.6 kW1). Our local service partners will happily send you a qualified electrician to install the wall-box and help you with setting up your charger at home. After that you will be able to charge up to 12 km2 range in 30 minutes conveniently at your home.

With its ingenious radar- and camera-based systems like Automatic Emergency Braking and Lane Change Alert the Ampera-e helps prevent collisions to maximize safety.
The Automatic Emergency Braking System1 not only detects vehicles but also pedestrians that you may miss. Within a speed range between 8 - 80 km/h it constantly measures your distance to potential risks. If the distance is too low, it warns you acoustically and visually. If you do not react, the vehicle automatically slows down. At speeds under 40km/h, it stops the vehicle completely. Therefore the system helps to maximize safety, especially in city traffic.
On the highway, numerous safety systems help to prevent accidents also at higher speeds - e.g. Lane Change and Side Blind Zone Alert.2
1Works automatically above 8 km/h and below 80 km/h. The deceleration metric to reduce the impact speed of the collision is as follows: 0 to 40 KPH (1.0g), 40 to 80 KPH (0.3g). LSCMB can be overridden by the driver at any point in time.
2Active at all speeds, max. range of appr. 70 m. On roads with higher road curves, the effective range decreases. The minimum detected object is a 125 cc motorcycler. The max. differential speed that can be recognized within 3.5 second time frame to collision is 72 km/h. For higher differential speeds, an alert will still be issued but with a lower time to collision.

The innovative rear view camera makes both parking and driving off easier and safer. The camera provides greater visibility of objects surrounding the vehicle and helps to reduce
blind spots.

There are even more tangible reasons to switch to electric: Benefit from the low overall running costs thanks to government subsidies1 and cheaper service trips!
