FlexRide – Adapts car behaviour for a better ride

FlexRide acts in two ways. Firstly, it lets you switch between three different driving modes to suit your mood: Normal, relaxed Touring or exciting Sport. And then, regardless of which mode you’re in, it automatically adjusts the damping to provide maximum safety and control.

Watt’s link rear axel: Better handling, more stability and even more comfort

The compound crank rear axle has been enhanced with the cleverly positioned Watt’s link to ensure excellent performance on every road. This innovative rear axel layout has advantages in size, weight and efficiency over a classical multi-link axel design. It also improves safety: the pivoting center link is attached to the underbody where it absorbs lateral forces on the suspension caused when cornering. Originally found in racing and rally cars, this technology has been further developed by Opel to reduce the noise of the road in the cabin.

Our new turbocharged ecoFLEX engines make a very impressive case for the principles of downsizing. With friction-optimized valve trains, sodium-filled exhaust valves, shortened pistons and an overboost function, the engines raise performance and torque while lowering consumption and emissions.

Intelligent BiTurbo diesel technology

The new 2.0 BiTurbo CDTI engine with 143 kW/195 hp and 400 Nm of torque is designed to deliver especially agile, responsive and fluid performance under acceleration. The highlight of the four-cylinder common rail engine is the sequential double turbo system with two charging stages. This technology has so far been limited to a few higher priced brands. However, Opel is now making it accessible also in the compact class.

Smooth, effortless and clean

With 125 kW (170 hp) up to 280 Nm torque and frugal consumption, the tech savvy direct injected 1.6 SIDI Turbo proves down sizing doesn’t have to mean depowering. Advanced metallurgy, along with weight saving and balancing technologies, all combine to give super-smooth economic performance.
