AWD control module uses sensors to monitor the relative speed of the wheels, then a sophisticated Torque Transfer Device automatically distributes torque between the front and rear wheels.

In normal weather and driving conditions the power is delivered to the front wheels only for good economy, this means you constantly save on fuel.

On wet and rainy roads an occasional redistribution of drivetrain power is available. Depending on vehicle status and road conditions torque can be transferred to the rear axle. So even in short situations, for instance when hitting a pothole or an ice spot the additional torque in the rear wheels provide maximal traction and stability.

In case of extreme weather and road conditions, for instance during snowfall or when driving up a steep hill, a constant redistribution of drivetrain power can be provided. The torque ratio of front and rear axle continuously adapts to the conditions and even for a longer period of time can be set between 100/0 and 50/50, which still ensures maximal traction and stability.
