Madrid. His Majesty King Felipe VI of Spain granted an audience to Opel Group CEO Dr. Karl-Thomas Neumann and top executives from other European companies for them to present the IN CHARGE initiative. The initiative was launched recently and aims at promoting talent and improving the employability of young people.
Dr. Neumann was accompanied by Joachim Koschnicke, Vice President Government Relations & Public Policy of the Opel Group, Antonio Cobo, Managing Director GM España and Plant Manager Zaragoza, Fernando Saiz, Director Communications and Government Relations GM España, Fabian Kienbaum, Managing Partner of Kienbaum Berlin, Maxim Nohroudi, CEO Ally App, Dr. Mark Speich, CEO of Vodafone Stiftung, Christoph Metzelder, Founder of Metzelder Stiftung, Heiner Thorborg, CEO of H.Thorborg GmbH & Co. KGaA, and Frank-Michael Karl-Heinz Schmidt, CEO of Scholz & Friends. In addition, Peter Tempel, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Spain was also attending the audience.
Dr. Neumann took the opportunity to show King Felipe VI images of the 450 young people that participated the first IN CHARGE activity, the Coaching Day session in the Opel plant in Zaragoza, last week. The participants, selected from over a thousand applicants, had the opportunity to attend conferences related to employment orientation and job search assessment. They could also participate in workshops on how to face a job interview and how to prepare a curriculum as well as having the opportunity to share experiences with executives from the prestigious partner companies.
During the meeting, the company representatives expressed their concerns regarding youth employment and the generation set to take over the professional world in the upcoming years. They also indicated that they consider it their responsibility to contribute to change and improve the employability of European youth.
Dr. Neumann promised to keep His Majesty Felipe VI informed on the progress of this international initiative, which intends to increase youth employability, by identifying and developing their individual talents.
The cofounding companies want to start a discussion on how to avoid unemployment in the next generations as they consider this an effective way of improving the possibilities for young people on the labor market.
The European Project “IN CHARGE for the next generation” will be officially presented throughout the month of July. Portugal, Italy, Hungary and Poland are the next countries on the agenda for 2016.
