Rüsselsheim. Opel has named a new Plant Manager for the production site in the Thuringian town of Eisenach: 33-year-old Pieter Ruts will succeed Elvira Tölkes on September 1. As already reported, Elvira Tölkes will move to the company headquarters in Rüsselsheim where she will be responsible for the quality of all Opel/Vauxhall vehicles as the new Quality, Europe, Vice President.
Pieter Ruts is currently Assistant Plant Manager in Kaiserslautern. Prior to that assignment, he was in charge of production and final assembly area in Rüsselsheim for three years. Belgian-born Ruts knows the plant in Eisenach very well: from 2007 to 2011, he underlined his competence in various management roles here. Ruts, who has a Master’s degree in TEC-Computer Sciences from Gent University, joined Opel in 2005.
“Our plant in Eisenach is synonymous for outstanding productivity and best quality. The site will get a highly qualified manager in Pieter Ruts. He knows the plant well and will further advance it,” said Peter Thom, Vice President Manufacturing Opel Group.
