Pure lines and simple elegance create their own sophistication and characterize every aspect of the new Opel Cascada. From the outside it can best be seen in the long, clean, uninterrupted flat profile when the roof is lowered. Then details such as the restrained chrome highlights, the lack of gimmickry and effective use of detailing such as the 3D homogeneous LED powered rear lights or the neatly packaged headlight clusters make an impact. But the real hallmark of refinement comes with the realisation that the new Opel Cascada is equally good looking with the soft top raised.
Space and grace, expertly proportioned and seasoned with up-market quality materials, are waiting inside the new Opel Cascada. Combining soft materials with satin chrome and contrasting piping and stitching with fine leather and soft touch trim creates an impressive sense of craftsmanship. The stylishly raked A pillars and wide doors make getting in and out simple. Four supportive and deeply upholstered individual seats cosset driver and passengers. The wing shaped instrument panel and fascia create a dynamic curve that meets the door trim to provide wraparound ergonomic elegance.
The soft top of the new Opel Cascada opens in just 17 seconds and closes in 19 seconds. It can be operated at up to 50 km/h. The switch is right where it should be, in the centre console where the hand drops naturally onto it. Remote key roof operation is standard on all models. The fact that it has been tested 15,000 times in all conditions and fits perfectly into the windscreen leaving no unsightly edges, also demonstrates the exceptional attention to detail and high levels of refinement.
The fabric used to make the soft top is well proven from use in a wide range of European prestige cabriolets. In tests up to 240 km it retains its shape with a maximum distortion of just 3 cm. It is weather and car wash proof. Inside, hidden stitching complements the high quality by giving the impression that the structure is just one piece. Two variants are available, the standard version has a 3-layer outer fabric with a woven inner layer. The acoustic soft top reduces interior noise even further by exchanging the middle layer with a polyester fleece insulated thicker layer.
Long, wide opening doors, seatbelt presenters and an electric easy entry system mean getting in and out of the new Opel Cascada couldn’t be easier, or quicker. The seatbelt presenters are right behind the doors, they hold the seatbelts neatly out of the way until the driver and front passenger are seated, then slide the buckles into easy reach, before retracting into the housings. The electric easy entry system works at double normal adjustment speed and is intuitively, activated by tilting the backrest forward.
Unlike many other cabriolets, the new Opel Cascada offers generous luggage space. The boot takes 280 litres with the roof down or 350 litres when raised. In addition a useful trunk divider ansures your luggage can be easily and securely stowed exactly as you want it. The electrically activated FlexFold system enables one or both rear seats to be forward folded to deal with longer or larger loads.
A rigid body structure with crossed steel reinforcement, plus extra rigid sills and A pillars underpin the outstanding driving characteristics of the new Opel Cascada. This is the perfect basis for the advanced HiPerStrut front suspension of the Insignia OPC and Watts Link rear suspension. To this is added the proven benefits of the Opel FlexRide system. Then to exploit the handling excellence, a range of frugal, technologically advanced engines, including the epoch making 143 kW (195 hp) 2.0 BiTurbo CDTI diesel and direct injection 1.6 SIDI petrol engine with 125 kW (170 hp), supply effortless power. Together with precise 6-speed transmission the results lift the new Opel Cascada into a class of its own.
The new Opel Cascada packs a world of driving pleasure into one of the safest convertibles ever made. A rigid safety structure forms the perfect basis for passive systems such as the airbags and pyrotechnically activated rollover protection bars. In addition the full range of advanced Opel driver assist systems provide safety in depth. These include Adaptive Forward Lighting AFL+ with 10 functions, the latest generation Opel Eye front camera with enhanced Traffic Sign Assistant, Lane Departure Warning, Following Distance Indicator, Forward Collision Alert, rear view camera, advanced parking assist and advanced ESP®Plus with Hill Start Assist are also part of a highly comprehensive package that delivers perfect peace of mind.
