Compact, muscular and athletic, the new Opel Mokka is the first German contender in the growing sub compact SUV sector. With sculpted style, surprisingly generous interior space and class leading technology.
From the very first glance the new Opel Mokka looks strong. The high and wide stance is subtly emphasized by the muscular profile, sculpted wheel arches and wheels up to 18 inch. Seen from the front, the deep valence with black elements and recessed fog lights provides the perfect basis for the integral front bumpers. The upper and lower grille with chrome badge bar and the wrap around bi-xenon headlight clusters all add to the businesslike, but elegantly compact overall perception.
From the front three-quarter aspect the steeply raked windscreen and substantial B and C pillars hint at athletic go-anywhere strength and capability. The upsweep of the lower window line is subtly matched and enhanced by the Opel specific sculpted blade motif, which also adds an extra element of stability. The black side moldings that integrate into the wheel arches and front and rear lower bumpers further underpin this stable impression. In keeping with the overall design themes of stance and stability, even the roof rails have been rethought, adding an additional stylish black element.
At the back the hatch is recessed into the curves of the rear wings and the seamlessly integrated rear light clusters. The pronounced curvature of the rear screen is futuristically impressive, blending cleverly into the lower black elements of the rear roof spoiler, which also carries the high mounted rear brake light. The substantial rear bumpers also serve to further underline the broad stance, neatly adding to the overall impression of well thought through robustness.
Seen from any angle the new Opel Mokka expresses exactly what it should. A car that can comfortably take on adventurous journeys without sacrificing either elegance or functionality in design.
Opel philosophy towards comfort is that you can never have too much. For example the high seating position of the new Opel Mokka makes entry and leaving simple and comfortable. Then when you add the supremely supportive and ergonomic AGR seats, you also add the peace of mind that they are certified by the German Aktion Gesunder Rücken e.V., representing a major step towards maintaining the health of your back.
Real comfort also means space. There is plenty packed into the 4.28 meter length of the Mokka. The light airy atmosphere means you can look forward to some really satisfying long journeys, and adding the Electronic Climate Control also means that you’ll stay that important bit fresher during the drive.
At Opel we also believe in the comfort of technology. The Traffic Sign Recognition system actively helps you stay within the temp limits. The Lane Departure Warning keeps you on line, while the new generation of Adaptive Forward Lighting with High Beam Assist has to be experienced to be really appreciated. Maybe we should add that when it comes to active safety we also believe that you can never have too much.
Whether you think of infotainment as a basic necessity or a vital means of keeping informed and in touch, the new Opel Mokka puts you firmly in control. There is a range of sound, communication and navigation possibilities that cater to every taste, need or desire. For universal connectivity Bluetooth® is available, enabling hands free phone and audio streaming with tracklist on the display. USB interface makes connecting portable audio devices supremely simple. The range topping navigation package also includes rear view camera support.
The new Opel Mokka is the sub-compact SUV with big capabilities. For those who know Opel and our commitment to convenience and everday-practicality the fact that there are up to 19 different storage locations won’t come as any surprise, neither will the ingenuity of interior and the ease of access to every control or storage space.
With the new Opel Mokka compact dimensions don’t mean cramped interior space. Convenient carrying space is simply arranged by folding the second row of seats, which makes a cavernous 1,372 liters of load capacity ready for use. In addition, for those who enjoy the freedom of two wheels, the latest FlexFix® rear carrier systems slides easily out from the rear bumper and carries up to three cycles easily and securely. It is just one of a whole range of accessories and transport possibilities designed to complement your active lifestyle and leisure.
In a world where too many cars have more show than go the new Opel Mokka firmly reverses this trend. Three ECOTEC® engine choices, a naturally aspirated 1.6 with 85 kW (115 hp), a 1.4 Turbo with 103 kW (140 hp) and a 1.7 CDTI turbo diesel with 93 kW (130 hp) and a massive 300 Nm of torque provide stress free economical power.
A choice of transmissions means that the 1.4 Turbo and the 1.7 CDTI can be equipped with either manual or automatic 6-speed transmission. To enhance the go-anywhere nature of the new Opel Mokka the Opel Intelligent “Active on Demand” all wheel drive system is available with either. It smoothly, seamlessly and automatically transfers up to 50% of the power to the rear wheels under demanding conditions. The result is immediate extra traction to cope with rough or slippery conditions, regardless of whether they come on slippery streets or gravel tracks.
All the manual transmission variants of the new Opel Mokka are fitted with the fuel saving Opel Start/Stop system. Other standard features that enhance the driving experience across the range include Electronic Stability Control, Traction Control, ABS with Electronic Brake Distribution, Hill Start Assist and Hill Descent Control systems to improve driving comfort and safety over rising or dropping terrain.
In fact when the question of technology arises the size of the new Opel Mokka ceases to be relevant. The equipment level can seriously embarrass several larger and more expensive SUVs. The result is a car that always punches above its weight, regardless of the demands you make.
