The INSIGNIA TOP SAFETY RATINGS.
The Insignia is one of the safest cars in the mid-sized segment. The Insignia has been awarded five stars by Euro NCAP for its excellent safety performance. Insignia’s cutting-edge active safety features include Adaptive Forward Lighting (AFL), Opel Eye front camera system with Traffic Sign Assistant, Forward Collision Allert and Lane Departure Warning, and the Adaptive Cruise Control with emergency braking. The Insignia also features an advanced Front Safety Belt System to ensure maximum passenger protection. The front seats are equipped with active headrests to prevent neck injury. 3 airbag systems are standard: Dual stage front airbags for driver and co-driver, head/thorax side airbags and full length curtain airbags for the 1st and 2nd row. The Insignia is not only equipped with state-of-the-art active safety systems, but also protects its occupants with exemplary passive defense technology. The foundation of the passive safety in the Insignia is a rigid passenger cell mainly fabricated from high strength steel. It shows, under all accident conditions, the least possible deformations and the largest possible survival space.
The INSIGNIA ADAPTIVE FORWARD LIGHTING AFL+.
Insignia’s Adaptive Forward Lighting (AFL+) is one of the most advanced headlight systems in the Mid-Sized Segment. The movable elements in the sleek Xenon headlights greatly enhance visibility through curves and sharp bends, making night driving significantly safer – and more relaxed. Nine different light functions improve road illumination by up to 90 % versus fixed headlamps. The movable elements in the sleek Bi-Xenon headlights automatically adjust themselves to different driving conditions – providing optimum illumination in every driving situation without dazzling other drivers.
The INSIGNIA OPEL EYE FRONT CAMERA SYSTEM.
Drive safer and avoid speeding tickets. A specialized wide-angle camera reads and remembers speed limit and “no overtaking” signs and displays them. Opel Eye also features Lane Departure Warning (LDW). This feature helps avoid accidents caused by inattention and tiredness. If the car should cross a continuous line without the turn signal being used, an audible warning and a sign in the instrument panel is instantly activated. The Following Distance Indication (FDI) system constantly shows the distance to the leading vehicle in the instrument panel, helping to avoid tailgating-tickets. Forward Collision Alert (FCA) is active when the car is moving faster than 40 km/h and gives visual and audible warning when a collision is likely.
The ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL (ACC).
A radar sensor maintains your cruise speed and the chosen gap to the car in front using throttle and brakes. The following distance to the preceding vehicle can be adjusted via steering wheel control. A green vehicle ahead telltale illuminates if the radar sensor detects a preceding in-path vehicle. If you approach the preceding car too fast, the system triggers visual and audible warnings and applies the brakes (Emergency Brake Function), retarding the car to 15 km/h.
