Madrid. The Opel OnStar personal connectivity and mobility assistant has won the Spanish “Ponle Freno” (“Stop Them”) award. Enrico de Lorenzi, Opel Spain General Sales Manager, received the award in the category “Innovation and Development in Road Safety” during a ceremony held at the Senate Palace in Madrid. The award was presented by Jose Maria Plaza, Director of Customer Service at the AXA insurance company, which sponsored the category.
Now in its eighth year, “Ponle Freno” rewards initiatives, businesses or agencies that actively contribute to improving Spanish road safety.
“This award for our ‘guardian angel’ Opel OnStar is not only an honor”, said Enrico de Lorenzi at the award ceremony. “It is also further encouragement to continue the work that the Opel brand has been doing in many areas to make our roads safer every day. Optimum protection in real traffic and collisions is the safety objective for Opel’s automobiles and OnStar is the perfect complement.”
Opel OnStar is currently available on all Opel passengers in Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain and Switzerland, and as Vauxhall OnStar in the United Kingdom. An additional 19 countries will follow as of August 2016.
